October 15, 2007...It's been soooo long!!!
Greetings Divas!
Can you believe it's been several months and no posting! Well, forgive me - I've been hugely busy - but haven't we all? I know, I know --- it's no excuse. Forgive me as I re-establish my routine.
So, some wonderful things have come to pass and some difficult things have come to pass. The best news is that Detox Diet Divas is growing...which tickles me tremendously. Someday soon I'll share more on my vision...
The difficult things were actually about some heavy toxins I was releasing over the past few weeks - which shook my world for a time. I've learned that this occasionally happens (totally worth the shake...in the end)
And, we're winding down a 6 week cleanse series and about to launch an intro to a 3 day cleanse coming up in early November. Pleeeeease join us! The larger the group the more powerful and potent. Truly.
Think about it and drop me a line...at: dawn@detoxdietdivas.com

July 10th, 2007: I've been thinking about energy ...
Greetings Divas,
Here's the thing about energy -- it's a precious commodity. The energy I'm referring to is our own personal energy.
What zaps your energy?... Consider the following 7 energy blasters:
What can you do today to reduce an energy zapper?
To your greatness,
Dawn

Here's the thing about energy -- it's a precious commodity. The energy I'm referring to is our own personal energy.
What zaps your energy?... Consider the following 7 energy blasters:
- Digestion -- This is a huge consumer of energy! Highly acidic foods are the culprit here - coffee, alcohol, drugs, foods high in sugar, as well as simple carbohydrates and animal protein - these are all very hard on digestion.
- Handling Poisons in the Body -- contaminated foods and drink in addition to environmental poisons as in herbicides, pesticides, drugs such as antibiotics. and heavy metals to name few all rob the body of energy.
- Internal Toxic Buildup -- Another result of over-acidification. When the body's natural pH buffers run out and the body has to find other means to eliminate acids it is a vastly inefficient use of energy.
- Extensive Physical Activity --- Any extreme in the area is highly overtaxing on the body, thus an energy zapper.
- Health Issues - overweight, sickness and disease all take enormous amounts of energy to overcome.
- Stress and Negative Outlook - Stress causes the body to go into a fight or flight mode and depletes the adrenal glands. It is highly acidic to the body's pH balance.
- No Purpose in Life - Find a reason to get lit up about life. Without purpose there is lethargy and often extreme depression. Discovering your own unique reason for being on this planet will significantly alter your energy.
What can you do today to reduce an energy zapper?
To your greatness,
Dawn

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007 -- Do you have Sugar Shock?!
Greetings Divas!
Two and a half months ago I stopped eating sugar (100%).
My sugar "dry date" happened while attending the pH Miracle Retreat in California.
There was no sugar in sight at this venue.
Not a chance - I was not going to find it anywhere at the pH Miracle Center..(nor coffee, dairy, meat, or any form or fashion of processed food - but that's another blog) Nada.
So, I decided to be a team player. I decided to abstain.
After a few days without my sweet sugar buddies I got in touch with how different I felt. I was alert throughout the day, my moods didn't fluctuate. My energy didn't fluctuate. I wasn't overeating!
And then... Dr. Young conducted a live blood analysis - yes with my very own blood. He looked at it under the microscope and said - humm, your blood looks like someone with a heavy sugar/high carb diet. Right then the thought ran through my mind - oh no, I've been discovered!!
His next question was: "What do you eat?" I fessed up to the honey I put in my tea throughout the day, my cookies, my half-n-half, my little bites of ice cream, my love for chocolate. Then he showed me the biggie - how my blood looked in comparison to healthy blood. We talked about how fungus and yeast was forming as a result of my sugar intake. My blood cells did not look uniform and ruby red like the healthy cells on the "other" slide. It was quite an eye opener.
At that moment I realized the gig was up. I knew I needed to get the fungus and yeast, that the sugar created out, of my blood.
I stopped sugar then and there.
Truth is... life without sugar has been challenging at times. Good news is I've discovered things that curb my craving...like soy sprouts and raw almond butter. Oh yea, a teaspoon full of raw almond butter and I'm a happy camper.
Here's another thing...living sugar free has given me a heightened sense of awareness (of sugar). Especially the first few weeks. I became ultra aware of who was eating sugar, what foods contained sugar, what kind of sugar (there are many forms ranging from raw sugar to splenda), the smell of sugar etc.
As a result of this awareness, I came to realize that prior to my dry date I was not a sugar minimalist - I was actually dependent on sugar... daily. I had been living in denial! Before the dry date I would eat a couple cookies mid afternoon and often pop several hard candies in my mouth for a little lift. Put a little honey in the black tea and herbal tea. I'd take bites of whatever snack my daughter might be sampling and then I'd sneak a few more cookies after dinner. I just wanted more, more, more! The fungus and yeastie beasties inside my body wanted more because they were actually living micro-organisms crying out to be fed.
Today, I'm not dependent on the sugar drug. Those cravings are gone because the yeast and fungus are no longer alive. I'm free!
I'll close by referring to a wonderful book I discovered called "Sugar Shock!", by Connie Bennett. Sugar Shock! indicates over 50% of Americans have sensitivity to sugar - it's a condition called: hypoglycemia. As quoted in Sugar Shock! here's one experts take on Low Blood Sugar or hypoglycemia:
"I have seen so many unhappy, distressed, and miserable individuals whose lives have been wrecked-virtually destroyed-by hypoglycemia". -Paavo Airola, N.D., Ph.D., author, Hypoglycemia: A Better Approach.
I recommend Sugar Shock! - It's a page turner.
Oh, and think about letting it go...(Sugar). Contact me for a Breakthrough session and we'll create a plan of action. (512) 431-1541. By the way, there's one more week for the June special... it's a 30 minute free consultation!
Cheers,
Dawn

Monday, June 18th, 2007 -- Just wondering....are you acidic?
Greetings Divas!
So, how do you know if you're acidic?
That would be nice to know - wouldn't it?!
Okay... so, the most common method is to use simple pH strips that you can buy at a natural foods store or pharmacy.
There are two ways to use these strips: either in your mouth, or you can use your urine. I like to use both techniques. Obviously, using your saliva is easier. However, some people believe using the urine is more accurate. When I do both, I often find my saliva is only slightly more acidic.
Many people don't realize that the time of day you test has a big impact on results.
The best time to take a pH test is in the morning, before you do anything.
Record the results.
If your pH strip measures less than 7, you'll want to cut back or ideally eliminate coffee, tea, dairy, meat, sugar, alcohol, processed foods - anything made with white flour, yeast or is in a can. Put your attention on taking in avocados, lettuce, cucumbers, spinach, lemons -- squeeze lemons in your water.
Squeeze lemon juice on everything!
Even better, start taking SuperGreens and Prime pH drops to super alkalize your water and give your cells an amazing nutritional charge. ...you can get these at:
www.innerlightinc.com/dawnsanders
And...Please do refer to the acid alkaline food chart on my website...www.detoxdietdivas.com/articles.php
Wishing you an alkaline day!!

Monday,June 11th. Diva Confession, I goofed. Grapefruits for Breakfast - Not so good.
yep, I gotta fess up. What can I say - I'm human! I made a mistake and need to update bad info I delivered about eating those yummy grapefruits for breakfast. Don't do it, Sorry.
I felt a wave of sadness when my friend Dawna in Mexico shared this little tidbit. Dawna and I were at the pH Miracle Center outside of San Diego a few months ago. Dawna is amazing - so full of wisdom and tidbits of wonderful information. Check out her Masters Wellness Center in San Miguel... www.masterswellness.com
So, Oh sure, one more thing I can add to the do not eat for breakfast list. And I started feeling sorry for myself.
Truth is you can have grapefruit later in the day... just not right off the bat. Because although grapefruit is lower in Sugar than most other fruits other than lemons and limes) it still has some natural sugar.... and that means...
If you start your day with Grapefruit it won't be as sustaining and long lasting nutritionally. So, your energy level may suffer a great deal.
So, okay...I got it. I've accepted it. As long as I can eat grapefruit later in the day I'm happy. Just don't take that away too ;-).
For today - I'm signing off,

Thursday, May 31st, 2007...Let's talk about breakfast.
Greetings Divas!
Here's a common question I get from breakfast lovers...
What do detox diet diva's eat for breakfast?!
Now I realize my answer may startle some of you because yes most of us were raised eating the standard American diet (SAD) so we consumed HIGHLY acidic foods to start our day such as high sugar fruits and juices (oranges, orange juice), and sugary breakfast cereals (in fact my favorite was lucky charms), perhaps you had eggs and bacon?
Well, I'm here to tell you there is nothing truly more energizing and satisfying (once you get used to it!) than the Zippy Breakfast...
The Zippy Breakfast was created by Shelley Young, author of Back to the House of Health 2. And here it is...any healthy warm whole grain (quinoa or buckwheat are great choices) add some avocado and tomato. Toss in other favorite veggies you have on hand. Drizzle with oh so good for you flax seed oil or other Udo's oil blend, and top with a squeeze of lemon, Bragg's Liquid Aminos and wha la! Your tummy will be satisfied for many hours. You just gotta try it.
Now, for those who prefer the lighter side of breakfast I recommend you try simply eating a nice juicy grapefruit along with a handful of raw almonds (that have been soaked). Or, you can warm a sprouted grain tortilla in the oven and spread some raw almond butter on top and roll. Now that's one of my favorites.
And, as always remember to hydrate with your super greens and/or alkalized water! Start early!
Cheers to your new breakfast of champions!

Thursday, May 24th, -- The Number 1 Thing to lose Weight TODAY.
Greetings Divas,
Ah, it's a great day in Austin, Texas. My daughter, Lilli, really thinks it rocks because it's the last day of school (she's in 3rd grade). I kinda like the idea too because it will save me an hour every morning with our getting out the door strategies!
So, I started writing a special report today and I want to share what I have thus far. I'd love to hear your feedback:
The question I am most frequently asked is: “what it the number 1 thing I can do to lose weight today? My prompt response is: drink massive amounts of good water!
Here’s the thing: the human body is 70% water. Therefore you have roughly 10-13 gallon you’re carrying around with you. The average adult loses in the neighborhood of 2 ½ to 3 liters of water a day via moving, sweating, elimination, respiration and sleeping. If this fluid is not replaced the body becomes dehydrated.
The first kicker about dehydration is: mild dehydration will slow down metabolism by up to 3 percent. And that’s mild dehydration! Many people are chronically dehydrated. In fact, one study suggests that up to 75% of the American population is chronically dehydrated – not getting the recommended eight, 8 ounce glasses of water per day.
There is another danger to dehydration that occurs and this one is a subtle foe because when we allow our body’s to become chronically dehydrated we’re often out of touch with our body signals. Thus people often interpret thirst desires as hunger pangs and we eat food rather than simply taking in water!
More to come...
have a great day Divas. Can you add on one huge glass of water to your day? See how you feel!
My best to you,
Dawn

Tuesday, May 15, 2007 Spring Cleaning!
Hello Divas -- Ah, May sounds like a wonderful month to do some house cleaning. Once the lazy days of summer come creeping in we may not feel like exerting so much energy, so let's get into action NOW!
The best news is this house cleaning will sky rocket your weight loss plan into a new dimension. No doubt.
So hold on Divas!
Are you with me? Two weeks - you can do it right? Great!
First and foremost we must extract acidic foods from our diet...
What acidic foods need to go first? Here's the list of highly acidic items to give up during our spring cleaning:
1. Coffee - Yes, that means with caf and without. Doesn't matter. Oh yes, this includes black tea. (Herbal tea is fine but in moderation - I really want you to focus your fluids on Alkaline water intake - more on that later)
2. Sugar! That's all forms including honey, agave xylitol, anything ending in "ose"... Now, cheer up there are two sweetners that are alkalizing - Stevia and Chicory.
3. Processed foods - foods made with white flour, anything in a can, iodized salt (buy some yummy mineral salt such as Real Salt - it's amazing.
4. Sodas, Diet Drinks, juices, seltzer, sparkling water...
5. Meat -- All
6. Acidic Condiments: Soy Sauce, Mustard, Miso, Ketchup, Salad dressing with Vinegar, Mayonaise,
7. Peanut Butter or peanuts (substitute Raw Almond Butter - it's fabulous, raw almonds and raw pine nuts make great substitues)
8. Beer,Wine or any liquor - Hugely acidic!
9. Wheat - there are wonderful Sprouted grain tortillas you may enjoy.
10. Most Fruits - Exceptions include: grapefruit, lemons, limes and dried figs.
Stay tuned for more on our Spring Cleaning series. And please email me if you have any questions: dawn@detoxdietdivas.com

Greetings Divas!
Let's talk about coffee. I used to absolutely adore meeting friends at the local coffee house for a nice cup of latte, or expresso/americano. You get the idea. Now, truth is, sometimes I simply drank too much caffeine and that put a damper on my day - but oh well. I was in a fantasy most of the time just hoping for that perfect cup.
Until I took a trip to the pH Miracle Center and went through detox because there's no way you're gonna get a drop of coffee at that place. Then I learned WHY they don't serve coffee or black tea for that matter. And let me tell you why...
Coffee with cream and sugar has a pH of 4.0 - that is 1,00 times as acidic as distilled water! Black coffee is slightly better with a pH of 5.0. Coffee contributes to keeping your acidic fat cells firmly in place. It's time to let go of the coffee Divas. You may want to start by cutting back a little every week until you are ready to experience the extraordinary benefits of living without coffee. And you know Divas - coffee is not good for the skin. It's tremendously dehydrating.
My suggestion: Try experimenting with herbal teas. You can add stevia and soy cream to give it more flavor too.
Truthfully, I never thougth I could do it - and it stuns me that I don't miss it a bit. The more alkaline my body gets the more I crave foods/drinks that hydrate.
That's all for today! Wishing you great health...

Hello Detox Diet Divas - (or could I shorten that to DD Divas?)
Just returned home from my morning ritual of going to the gym and ensuring my daily allotment of sweat! Yes indeed sweating is absolutely one of the most fabulous things you can do to get those nasty acids out of our bodies. When you move your body to the point where it breaks a sweat you're promoting pumping of the lymphatic system which gets rid of toxins and acid wastes from the tissue and the fluids of the body. So bottom line - you just gotta sweat!
Of course you're probably aware of the myriad of additional benefits to exercise such as being tremendous for the heart, bones, joints, muscles and it certainly has been known to enhance the mood. And - yes, it does burn calories however the Divas don't count calories, thus this takes a lower ranking. The sweat benefit is still King - oh, I mean Queen.
Tomorrow we'll talk a little more about exercise. You have to exercise right or you could actually make your body MORE acidic.... stay tuned.

Greetings Divas!
Today I want to talk about an aspect of the Detox Diet that I've not dwelled upon, however in light of my personal life experiences of late, I think the timing is right. The Diva topic of the day is STRESS! Yes, and you may wonder, what does stress have to do with weight loss?
More than you probably ever imagined.
Stress creates ACID! And here's the thing about acid (many of you have probably read this on my website)...however this is big. And this is the tidbit of info that changed my life forever: When your body is over-acidic, as most are, it will stuff excess acid into fat cells as a storage facility. Now, some acids are escorted out of the body - but Divas - most acids are stored in fat cell. Yes,it's true.
Back to stress. Given that stress creates acids it's vitally important to include relaxation, meditation, yoga, tai chi, walking, etc.... in our daily routine.
Other elements to consider:
1. Forgiveness - letting the past go. Now this may take outside resources like a therapist.
2. Practice Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) This is an powerful process of emotional release. It's likened to Accupuncture without needles. check out: http://emofree.com/a/?3540
3. Practice long deep breathing and other breathing exercises. A FREE GIFT to yourself. HIGHLY recommended.
Wishing you a stress-less day Divas!
-All my best,
Dawn

May 2nd,
Good Morning Divas,
Today we'll continue on with the ever so vital topic: hydration. Really - this is number one for the Detox Diet Divas.
Here's the thing: Human beings are 70% water. So water is vital. Yes, vital.
And guess what? It's said that over 75 percent of Americans are dehydrated. The average person drinks about 1 liter a day and often times that includes the acidic liquids like coffee, and sodas. And here ‘s the kicker. If you don’t drink enough water you’ll get fat! Here’s why: first of all, dehydration slows the metabolism. Even mild dehydration slows the metabolism by 3 percent. Secondly, many people confuse the body’s thirst desire for hunger. And lastly, if you don’t drink enough water, you’ll RETAIN water, yes, that ghastly…Bloating!
So, did you calculate how much water you should be drinking? Remeber that's one liter for every 30 pounds you weigh.
If you need help, let's schedule a breakthrough session.

First Day
lots to cover Divas...
In order of priorities let's look at what aspect of this process is numero UNO in importance? You got it... WATER! Yes, you must hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Ulitmately you will want to takie in 1 liter per 30 lbs of weight. So, if you weigh 120 lbs - you got it, drink 4 liters. Now, for some of you that may be a huge increase. I recommend adding a little every day til your body adjusts. Actually, I can almost guarrantee your body will be incredibly happy. This will be a dream come true for many of your internal organs who have been waiting patiently (or not as the case may be) for you to send the nourishment they've been craving.
And, Divas...you want to make sure you are drinking Alkaline water - so for an 8 ounce glass of water add a dash of baking soda and squeeze a few slices of nice fresh lemon.
Stay tuned!
